Charlotte's story
Every member's story is individual and may involve a combination of approaches. Charlottes's story showcases weight loss success using Nutracheck alongside weight loss injections.
What was your start weight, your current weight, how much weight have you lost, and how long did it take?
My start weight was 19st 5lbs171lbs122.9kg and my current weight is 9st 8lbs134lbs60.8kg. It took 16 months to lose 9st 11lbs137lbs62.1kg.
Was there something that prompted your decision to lose weight?
I am a 73-year-old retired Clinical Nurse Specialist who has struggled with obesity for most of my adult life. Before finding a sustainable solution, I faced severe health issues—walking with a stick, struggling with shortness of breath on stairs, and being under the care of four hospital consultants (Gynaecology, Cardiology, Respiratory, and Urology). I felt depressed and desperate as my health declined.
After joining a local support group, I was introduced to Nutracheck. It was a revelation to learn that "bad" foods don't exist, challenging my long-held reliance on "diet" products and sweeteners.
I also started taking Mounjaro to help me on my weight loss journey.
How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?
I found it quite easy. I have really enjoyed all aspects of the Nutracheck app and have joined the Good Food app too. I changed my food purchases to ‘non-diet’ products and cooked from scratch whenever I could. The foods that I thought were good for me ‘diet foods’ were actually part of the problem.
Have you experienced any health improvements?
I have been discharged from 4 hospital consultants: Cardiology, Urology, Gynaecology and Respiratory. I have reversed my prediabetes and my asthma and osteoarthritis are now under control. I’m no longer short of breath climbing stairs or walking and I don't need a walking stick anymore. My blood pressure and other medications have all been stopped.
What was the most challenging aspect of your weight loss journey, and how did you overcome this?
The most challenging thing for me was to eat enough calories each day. The Mounjaro suppression effects were very strong. Logging and charting my nutritional intake kept me accountable and safe.
Do you have any non-scale victories you would like to share?
I love eating out now and am not afraid to try interesting new foods, especially when the calorie values are included on the menus.
I buy my clothes from the local hospice charity shop and have gone down from the very largest sizes to size 8-10. I have recycled my bigger clothes back to the hospice shop so that they can be sold again. So my weight loss has supported a very good cause. It’s such a good feeling buying clothes because I like them, not just because they fit.
How do you feel since losing the weight, compared to before?
Losing weight has set me free from years of obesity, improving my mental health and stabilising my mood. My family and doctors are amazed by my normal blood results. After struggling all my adult life, I feel privileged to have found lasting success and will use Nutracheck forever to stay accountable.
How did you feel the app supported you - were there any specific features you found helpful?
I love the Nutracheck app. It is very easy and quick to use. I tell everybody about it. It is so good to see everything at a glance. Especially the diary, macronutrients and progress charts. The award rosettes are a great feature and really encouraging.
It really helped me to manage my nutrient intake by following the GLP-1 plan for weight loss support. The recipe section is so helpful and I love being able to add my own recipes.
I find the regular challenges, blogs, and the magazine are great for information and ideas.
What does weight maintenance look like for you now?
I use the app's 1,500-calorie setting to stay within my buffer zone. I feel healthier than ever and plan to use Nutracheck for life to stay safe and accountable.
What advice would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?
Focus on balanced nutrition and track everything on the Nutracheck app, taking it one meal and day at a time toward your next pound off. Surround yourself with supporters, avoid self-sabotage, and cook from scratch if you can. Vary your menu and try new things, while eating well, moving more, and planning ahead. Remember, there is no "bad food"—it's all about balance and quality. Strive for progress rather than perfection, trust the process, and keep going through both good and tough days to see results.
Weight loss injections are a prescribed medication and should only be
used with the guidance of a medical professional. If you are considering
this route, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. As per NICE guidelines,
injections should be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and exercise.
Our goal is to provide a simple and effective app that empowers members
to achieve their goals in a way that works best for them.
